11.05.2009 – Knecht Reisen „Edutainment“-Special in Namibia

One hundred Swiss travel experts to explore the land of contrasts

Frankfurt, May 2008. „We are very happy that Namibia will be the destination of the upcoming Knecht Reisen „Edutainment“-Special. We appreciate that one of the leading Swiss tour operators and specialist for Southern Africa is investing in the future of tourism in our country”, states Maureen Posthuma, Area Manager Europe of the Namibia Tourism Board in Frankfurt, Germany. “We would like to thank all partners, especially the local travel agency Sense of Africa for their commitment”, adds Posthuma.

The Knecht Reisen „Edutainment“-Special will take place in Namibia from mid-May to the beginning of June 2008. The educational trip was organized by Knecht Reisen in close cooperation with the Namibia Tourism Board in Frankfurt. Air Namibia and Sense of Africa will support the project as main sponsors. Additional main sponsors are Leading Lodges of Africa, Legacy Hotels, and GocheGanas.

Knecht Reisen is one of the largest and most influential tour operators in Switzerland, and will send around 100 of their travel agents and representatives of their management to Namibia. Members of the Swiss travel media will also attend the event. The “Edutainment”-Special is a mixture of fam trip and intensive workshop, which aims to convey in-depth knowledge of the destination. The agents can use their first-hand knowledge to ensure a competent and active consultation for customers in their travel agencies.

Before or after a three-day intensive workshop at the Windhoek Country Club, participants can choose between three different tours, which are organized by the local agency Sense of Africa in cooperation with the Namibian tourism industry. The travel agents will get to know the following hotels and lodges:

The diverse programme will lead the travel agents through national parks and wildlife reserves, in romantic lodges surrounded by unspoiled wilderness, and through the spectacular dunes of Namibia. The contrasts and the diversity of the country, as well as encounters with Namibia’s cultures will be the most important part of the experience. The participants will also learn how easy it is to travel around the large country.

Knecht Reisen has been an important partner for Namibia for many years. The tour operator, which is among Switzerland’s largest, is a trend-setter for the Swiss market. The increase in Swiss tourists shows that Switzerland is becoming an important market for Namibia. A strong partnership also makes sense in light of the soccer World Cup 2010 in the neighbouring South Africa: The travel agents from Switzerland, which will host the Euro 2008 together with Austria, will bring their soccer-euphoria to Namibia.

The investment by Knecht Reisen is awarded by the motivation of their employees. After such an eventful and exciting trip, all participants will return to their respective travel agencies with a broad product knowledge and enthusiasm for Namibia, which will help them promote the country among their customers.
